My cousin/ fishing buddy made an offhand comment about tying his own bucktails. In these winter months our wheels have been spinning. Through the Internet and some local shops I gained all the equipment needed and a whole bunch of info and how- tos. I started tying a basic bucktail, then I wanted to try a little teaser... One thing led to another... Now I have a bunch of "pretty" flies and I don't fly fish. I need not another addiction but want to know if these things work. Any saltwater fly fishers out there that wanna be guinea pigs? Any suggestions on how to rig these lures to my spinning setup?

Hi Jimmy, see if you can get a hold of Jose Colon [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] he's a nice guy and the one that I would turn to with any fly questions. He is this years Co-Champion of the Nor'East Coast Kayak Fishing Series. He ties some amazing stuff!

Jimmy,
flies make GREAT teaser rigs!!! tie a dropper loop abot 12" - 18" above the lure you want to throw; make the loop of the dropper just big enough to allow the hook to pass through...
or you can try "old school" - tie about 18" of leader to the ass end of the lure to be trolled then tie the fly directly to that leader. lure gets the fishes attention and when they see the trailing fly they tend to strike.
try it, you'll like it!
