Spent a interesting day on the water with KJV....
We attempted a surf lauch from Poverty Beach on Saturday morning. When we first arrived the swells were 1-2 and conditions were fair. By the time that we geared up and hit the beach, the swells increased to 2-3 with accasional 4's mixed in. Being that this would have been my first surf launch, we quickly bagged that plan. We packed everything back up and headed to Ocean Drive to fish Jarvis Sound and the inlet.
The bay was a little rough, but the biggest issue was the wind!!!. We lauched by the fisheries and within what felt like minutes were on the far side of Jarvis Sound. This was the point in my day where things began to head south. I am out there in a Tarpon 120 with a 15mph wind looking at a 2-3 hour HARD paddle back to the lauch point.
Kevin
offered to tow me back with his REVO. Thank God for his offer. Even with the assist of his boat; it was a 45 minute sprint out of the wind. We sought out a little shelter for a break and some lunch before going back out.
We tried to target some Tog around the banks and boats prior to heading towards the inlet. We fished the inlet until the tide turned the swells into small mountains. After speaking with a bunch of other boaters with the same bad luck and getting our A@@'s kicked by the elements all day, we decided to pack it in.
As far as the fishing, those reports lie! Not a bite
All in all it was a good day on the water. Had a lot of fun, fished with an awsome and generous fishing partner, and man did I get some exercise.
Kevin,
Thanks again for the tow. The beer is on me the next time were out
