Susky Flats Fling Kayak Fishing Jamboree

Benefitting

Heroes On The Water

April 12th-14th, 2012

Jamboree Headquarters;

Susquehanna State Park Campground
4122 Wilkinson Road
Havre de Grace, MD 21078

Contacts;

Bob Miller (aka Mullet Miller) 302.584.3500 mullet_miller@verizon.net

Mike Reier (aka Yakmike) 410.409.5473 murph46@comcast.net

In the strictest of terms, this event will not a tournament. I want it to be more of a gathering of friends for the sake of the camaraderie found within this sport. For this reason, we have reduced the entry fees and have gone with a Jamboree type of format. Saturday Award Dinner, Event T-shirts, and expenses will cost approx $40.00 per person. That will be the only required fee.

The pre-registration deadline is Wed, April 4th, 2012. After that date, registration is still available, but lunch tickets and t-shirt may become limited. Walk-ins will be accepted during the Captains Meeting or by special arrangement pre agreed to by Bob or Mike.

Donations from sponsors will be raffled off to raise money for Heroes On The Water. Many companies donate for the sake of promoting the sport and supporting various charities. These are the companies that we have chosen to align ourselves with in 2012. Please visit their websites and show your appreciation.

Ok, what the hell is a Jamboree, right? Well, what would you call it? Let us lay out our format, and you tell us what to call it;

A NON-mandatory bon-fire Captain’s Meeting will be held on Friday, April 13th, 2012 at 6pm, at the Susquehanna State Park Campground (Event Headquarters). This meeting will be about general information and we’ll be sharing some up to date hot spots. We’ll open up the raffles and Calcutta’s at this time too. We’ll also need to satisfy the traditional good luck toast. Please bring a beverage of your choosing to the meeting.

For bragging rights, and for those with a competitive edge, we will be having some prizes and a few Calcutta’s. Target species will be Striped Bass, Catfish, Large Mouth Bass and Slam. (See Tournament Portion)

We recommend that everyone stay at the Susquehanna State Park Campground. I am working with the Park Director to set up for the event and will have more to post soon.

This is a standard Catch, Photo and Release event. The State of Maryland Catch and Release Season prohibits the harvest of any Striped Bass. Registration going in mail tomorrow Bob. Little confused on what Non-resident License I need though...maybe you can clear it up for me. I'm assuming the flats section of the river is tidal water?

It's all tidal. You want to at least get the 7 day Bay sport fishing license.

If you plan to fish Kiptopeke later in the year, you should grab the non resident bay sport license for the year. It's reciprocal with Virginia for the bay, then you only need to register fir FINS in VA.

Shirt order has gone in on the amount of registrants as of today. I have 35 registered. I ordered 50 shirts, that gives me a few for late registrants, and I can't guarantee size at this point.
