Review - Sally and I had the pleasure of fishing with Jon Shein in Chokoloskee , Florida in February, 2008. He put her on her first snook - 38.5 inches. A snook of a lifetime. So I really wanted to read his new book “Kayak Fishing” to learn what else I could about kayak fishing. And teach my wife, who continually outfishes me!! (Those who can’t…. teach!! )

While visiting other kayak anglers around the country as the National Director of Heroes on the Water, I have learned there are many ways to do things. And a lot of the methods people use kayak fishing have to do with the environment. For example, our tides in Texas are pretty small - a few inches to a foot or slightly more. In other parts of the country, they are much higher, up 22 feet in Maine . Makes you think and fish with a different mindset from start to finish. Jon’s vast experience – from running one of the first kayak fishing stores and online sales website plus a major fishing forum, paddling almost every fishing kayak made, to fishing across the nation and many parts of the world -- make his book an encyclopedia of Kayak Fishing. He put all of his experience into the book that will improve every kayaker’s insight of fishing, kayaking, and “why do they do that?”. Jon writes about the many different types of kayaks, fishing gear, fishing methods, PFD’s, paddles, and techniques for all types of water and environments. You will learn kayak and angling techniques used in any other parts of the country that will improve how you kayak and fish in your backyard. Through my travels I have learned from others. Jon will teach you without the travel. A WHOLE lot cheaper!! I highly recommend his book – “Kayak Fishing” . [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
