| We made it out for some Toggin in the Cape May area today with Seaflea, Rockbro, Waterbug, Clamboni, Rubone, Yaknfool, Fishinfool. We had drop and reel Togging right from the start around 7am with fish up to and over the 20" mark. Rockbro managed a double header with both being trophy sized fish! Rockbro with a double header of a lifetime [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The boats were lined up along the jetties. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Yaknfool, Clamboni and I managed to fill our Kayak Wars quota of 30 Tog over 15 inches in just one day! After doing really well at the first location, we decided to leave biting fish to try a different spot. The fish at spot 2 have been fewer, but larger. As always when making a decision to leave biting fish, we shot ourselves in the foot. We had some lunch, cracked some jokes and headed back to spot 1 where we found the fish waiting for us! With temps at 57 degrees and a very light breeze, today absolutely rocked! | |

| The bite has been coming in waves the past few weeks. Its not a tide, a time, a bait or anything my little brain can figure out. They hit like crazy for a while and the rest a while...... | |

| I'm not so sure it was the crabs. I hit most of the bigger pilings with no bites, and when I asked the guys in the boat if they minded if I fished around a different part of the piling they were on I immediately started getting fish, with green crabs. Only a couple bites on any of the other pilings......I think the fish were just sticking around that spot all day.
I stayed until it got dark, and kept catching fish at the same rate all day long. Woke up from my nap and decided I needed more sleep rather than go out for bass, so i went back there in the morning and caught a bunch more. It wasn't like the day before, but still not bad.

Seems to me like they're like that most of the time. Sunday they bit all the way through the tide. Few little lulls in there but I've never had them drop and reel for that long like that.

| The bite started right after sun-up and built to a frenzy within 30 minutes. We hit a lull for a bit but we were also wasting time exploring different pilings. It exploded soon after we took up the positions that produced earlier. Believe me, the tog love their asian crabs! A quarter size asian stays on the hook much better than a cut greenie IMO. We had extra crabs so we frequently broke a few up and sent them over as chum. I have no idea if it helped, but it certainly didn't hurt. I think the fish just come through in loose schools and linger on any piece of structure that holds snacks. When the 'inside' water gets a little cooler I'd concentrate on the top of the incoming tide for the warmer water. Last weekend tide stage didn't seem to matter much. End of ebb 52 degrees. hour into flood 56 | |

| Went for bass this morning in the Manasquan. Dropped one schoolie when he jumped, and had one other hit. Brought the leftover crabs from sunday's trip for a plan 'B' if needed. Half hour after so called sunrise it was still dark and pouring. Not exacty tog weather, but the bass were a bust so why not? After 5 minutes I start telling myself I'm wasting time when I feel a very subtle weight on my rig. Lift, weight still there, hookset, fight, 18in tog. Picked one 19in 5 minutes later. Swung and missed a few, decided I would have to either start bailing rainwater, sink, or go home. Warm shower won out. | |
