| We have a place rented bayside of Barnegat Light. I may try fishing the bay or near the inlet but definitely not in it. I'm new to this but recently had a blast kayak fishing the Florida Gulf coast. This really opened my eyes to kayak fishing and the possiblities. The surf scares me a little and I definitely wouldn't try this alone but I can't help remembering the last time we were back that there was a kayaker right in the middle of a school of bunker w/ us. He was having a good time. If done right, and safely I would be interested in doing this. Anybody have any suggestions? | |

| Best suggestion would be to contact Chris at the Kayak Fishing Store as he knows the area. Maybe even Seaflea can give ya some intel on that area, I know he and Artie hit some great fishing down there on the inside. The inlet down there is probably one of the hairiest on east coast, but ya know that. Good luck, and welcome back | |

| Mullet Miller might know some of that area and Spinfisher Bob too. Guys will start posting reports as the weather breaks. We are all just coming out of hibernation mode. | |

| Thanks for all the help and the offer to go fishing. I was in hibernation till I went to Southwest Florida. Spent a week paddling the mangroves and the sound. Just amazing! If you haven't done it, I highly recomend it. Even learned about a secret lure that I know will work for stripers and blues. I'm totally addicted and can't wait to do it again. Already looking on google earth for potential spots. Sedge Islands and right behind High Bar Harbor look pretty good and not that far of a paddle from where I'll be staying. | |

| I launched from Bobbies bait shop, bought some bait there and was like what the hell and just asked if I could launch the guy there said ok. Tough paddle , be mindful of the tide but good fishing. Straight out from the bait shop there was this barge near the opposite shore . Drifted along there and hooked up with nice fluke and blues . This was last summer , haven't paddled there post sandy . Paddled cape may jetty post sandy and almost didn't make it back in, was a freaking death paddle . Was tempted to beach myself on the coast gaurd property and rest for a while but kept paddling and eventually made it . Be safe and have fun. | |

| Looks like I can launch right from the house we rented. I also learned about another spot close by on another forum. I know right where you fished and saw that barge last summer. I may have fished there as a kid. Can't rember, I fished the bay or the jetty lots of times every summer when I was younger. | |

| The area you guys are talking about is called the Dike. It is very fishable (fluke, weaks, blues, some striper) but the currents can really rip so you gotta plan carefully. | |

| simpleman; there are some nice holes right around the sedge islands just off the 10th st. ramp. pink has always been a good color to use... there's a small piece of sand just to the left of the boat ramp. I've launched from there (the sand) a couple times and not had to pay the ramp fees. There's also a path at the end of Sunset Blvd that you use. Just be mindful of the parking signs...
and I absolutely agree with squid lips; the currents around the Dike have to be respected! | |
