Launched at AM high tide just before sun up. No action until tide started to go out. Drifting was tough as the "predicted" 7 mph wind was blowing against the tide. Wind felt more like 15 once on the water. Had to pedal all the time just to keep a drift going.

Ton of bait stealers and nice size crab. (May have to bring the hand lines next trip). Dropped to a 1/O hook to see what was stealing the bait. Found the area loaded with spot

Had several short fluke and  a few 10" weekies by 9:30 am. All of the action was on clam strips. No takers on Gulp or mackeral. A thick fog rolled in around 10am and by 11:30 started to rain. Just finished loading the kayak on the car when the downpour came.

Stopped by The Kayak Store on the way out to find Chris launching kayaks in the pouring rain. Chris, I will bring an unbrella for the golf cart the next time I am down.lol!

Even though the day was cut short due to weather, ended up with a 22" Fluke for dinner.  All in all a good day and will try again later in the week.

I did basically the same trip am high tide 7/4. Same result minus the keeper flatty.
Did make the trip out of the inlet and out into the ocean infront of stone harbor....many king fish and a few small weekies on the way back in....then the waverunners showed up in HOLIDAY force...so made my way back to the launch site...clam strips for everything...
trolled some metal looking for a stray blue...found no blues...
cut baited some spot...no takers...but some hits...

nice job on the 22!!

Thanks guys
Made the same trip this morning, but nothing over 16.5". Was able to hook up with two 14"ish weekies, but they were way too skinny to think about keeping for dinner.

All of the fluke were on clam again. Both weekies came on a white teaser tipped with squid.

All of the boat traffic this week has me thinking about night trips for the next few weeks. Let me know if anyone is interested.
