The 4th Annual NJ Fluke Kayak Fishing Tournament - Hosted by Point Pleasant Elks will be held on Saturday, July 23rd, 2011.
This event is geared for both, the serious kayak angler and the kayak angler that wants to learn more about this fast growing and exciting sport. This tournament has become the premiere kayak fishing fluke event on the East Coast with more anglers and sponsors each year, thank you for your support.

There will be a Captain’s Meeting on Friday 7 – 9 pm July 22, 2011. The purpose of the Captain’s Meeting is to review the rules and to provide a basic orientation of the event and answer any questions. All Prizes will be awarded to the anglers at the award ceremony and BBQ following the tournament. The kayak division prizes can only be won by registered participants of that division by way of a win or raffle.
COST: $50 Entry Fee with an optional $20 Calcutta Cash Angler Pool.
ALL ANGLERS WILL RECEIVE 2 PASSES TO THE ALL YOU CAN EAT BBQ AND BEER WAGON AT THE AWARDS CEREMONY. THIS IS A GREAT EVENT TO BRING YOUR FAMILY!
WHERE: Anglers can fish an approx 25 mile radius around the Point Pleasant Elks, 820 Arnold Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742 (732) 892-9843. The northern boundary of the tournament is all of Raritan Bay, Sandy Hook. The southern boundary for the tournament is the RT37 Bridge going into Seaside Heights. This also is the approx area around the bridge. Anglers still need to make it back to the Elks Lodge by 2:30pm to qualify.

NJ Fluke Kayak Fishing Tournament Rules 2011
1. PARTICIPATION AND ELIGIBILITY: Participation is open to anyone 18 Years of age or older. Minors are eligible to register and participate with a parent or guardian who also participates in the event. Minors must have the signature of his or her parent or legal guardian on the entry form as applicable to any state, commonwealth, county, or federal regulations or law. The obligation to know these rules falls upon the parent. A completed entry form and $50 entry fee by Check or Credit Card Authorization form (down load from
www.pointpleasantelks.org) must be received no later than July 16, 2010. After July 16, entry fee is $65. - Entry fees may be transferred to another participant or refunded provided notification is received by the Point Pleasant Elks Tournament Committee prior to the Captains Meeting. Entry fees will not be transferred or refunded after the Captains Meeting.
2. PRIZES - Prizes will be awarded for the following divisions. See section 11 for scoring criteria. Winners will be based on the following pictures on their camera that are submitted by 2:30pm on July 23, 2011.
•Longest Fluke: 1st Place, 2nd Place and 3rd Places
•Longest Fluke Fly Rod: 1st Place, 2nd Place and 3rd Places
•Longest any other fish: 1st Place, 2nd Place and 3rd Places
•Take A Soldier Fishing (Team of 2): 1st Place, 2nd Place and 3rd Places
3. CAPTAINS MEETING: All participants are encouraged to attend the Captains Meeting; special considerations may be made in certain circumstances. Meeting will be held at 7PM July 22, 2011:

4. STARTING TIME: Launching can begin at safe light that time will be determined at the captains meeting. All entrants wishing to enter fish must return their pictures/camera in at tournament headquarters by 2:30pm. Don't forget the first pciture most be of you.
5. COMMUNICATIONS: the use of mobile communication is allowed. During the hours of competition, contestants may not obtain or receive assistance, including but not limited to following a non-competitor's boat, the placing of markers by any non-competitor, towed by or riding on motorized vessels or electronic, voice or data communication from a non competitor.
6. SPORTSMANSHIP: all contestants are required to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy and conservation. Intoxication will be cause for immediate disqualification. No alcoholic beverages or the use of illegal drugs is allowed. This rule extends through and includes signing of the check-in form at tournament headquarters. The illegal use of drugs, participation in any criminal activities, or other conduct reflecting unfavorably upon efforts to promote safety, sportsmanship, fair competition and compliance with tournament rules and the law are grounds for disqualification and/or rejection of any applicant from participation. This will also entail the return of any prizes awarded. Tournament directors will seek legal remedy if necessary.
7. PERMITTED FISHING METHODS: All fish must be caught live via hook and line. The selection of baits is up to the discretion of the participant.
8. PROHIBITED: There is absolutely NO FERRYING (i.e. using another vehicle or boat, motorized or not to transport your kayak to a fishing location while on the water.
9. PERMITTED FISHING LOCATIONS: Please see map below. All participants must use “pubic accessible” launch areas. Using private property will result in disqualification. During the hours of competition, contestants may not obtain or receive assistance, including but not limited to following a non-competitor's boat, the placing of markers by any non-competitor, towed by or riding on motorized vessels or electronic, voice or data communication from a non competitor... - Anglers may leave the boat to stand or to wade while fishing but must be in SIGHT OF THEIR KAYAK. Kayaks are the only mode of on-the-water transport allowed. You can use pedal crafts, sailing kayaks and electric kayaks. No gas powered kayaks, yes there are some!!!!
10. SCORING: Catch and release criteria; Winners will be determined by the length of the fish. At the captains meeting each contestant will be issued;
• A Unique identifier that will be included in the Capt Bag
• A score sheet
• PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN RULER. BRING YOUR RULER WITH YOUR CAMERA AT THE END OF THE TOURNAMENT To SETTLE ANY POSSIBLE DISCREPENCIES.
Participants are encouraged to use their own cameras if available. Digital is the only method, and a card reader will be used to download pictures. The Unique identifier must be visible in every picture. If there is no identifier, then the picture is disqualified. Score sheets must also be filled out completely and correctly, failure to do so will result in disqualification. All photos become property of the Elks Fluke Tournament. The first photo on the roll must be of the angler, the second photo will be the rigged boat at put in. Fish must be photographed in or on boat, (vessels should be distinguishable in photo) next to tape measure. The photo must show clearly the length of the fish. Length is determined from the tip of the lower jaw to the natural (un-pinched) tip of the tail. Length should be measured to the nearest quarter inch. Lengths will be verified and scored by the committee. The judging committee makes the call and the tournament director is the final authority on length but will not change the ruling of the judging committee. The tournament Director is not liable for photo processing and condition of cameras. In the event of a tie, the angler who returned their camera first, will be the winner.
11. RELEASE OF LIABILITY: A waiver and release of liability statement is part of the entry form. It is required of each contestant that they take responsibility for themselves while participating in any tournament activities.
12. RULE CHANGES: Rule interpretation will be left exclusively to the tournament directors; decisions of the tournament director are final in all matters and are not subject to appeal.
13. PROTEST: any and all protest must be submitted in writing, 30-minutes before the start time of the captains meeting, or 30-minutes before the official check-in period. All protests will be reviewed by the tournament committee which will be made prior to the captains meeting.
