SANDY HOOK — Storm-damaged Sandy Hook will re-open on May 1, although three northern beaches won’t be ready for the public until Memorial Day weekend.
The National Park Service says Sandy Hook, part of the Gateway National Recreational Area, will be ready to use by May 1.
But the Area B, Gunnison and North beaches will re-open for Memorial Day weekend.
Sandy Hook, a peninsula just north of Sea Bright between the ocean and the Shrewsbury River and Sandy Hook Bay, was seriously damaged by Superstorm Sandy last October.
Temporary rest room facilities are expected for early summer, and repairs to the ferry service and bicycle paths might not be ready until after Memorial Day as well.
