| That was me. Jbay weakies! I like the 7" and 10" pink ones for the weaks.
I will be at the check in at joe's shop, probably around 5 or so. I'm also going to try to visit winter island on saturday, but I'm not staying there.
The cookout is fun, i brought the wife and kids the last couple times I went and they enjoyed it. There are usually enough wives to keep eachother company and it helps them understand "our thing".
Hogy is having a great sale this month, definitely worth ordering a few.
Next time you are out, keep a rod rigged with a hogy and every time you land a fish, drop the hogy under the boat and put the rod in your holder while you release the fish. So far this month that has accounted for 2 45" bass for me. bonus fish!!

I thought so. Weakfish? Hogy? Too much of a coincidence not to be you, especially since it is so rare to see a picture of a weakfish, a mythical creature now. . . . . nice fish. BTW - weakfish have been showing in JBAY lately. . . . . going to hit it when I get back from the shootout.

| posted 22 bonus bass I found scoping out areas for the shootout, then only 3 bonus bass during the shootout! Saturday I wasn't sure if I would catch enough to fill my quota for the month, so I went to a spot loaded with 30" bass and got what I needed, then went off in search of the elusive large. Sat was better with 2 fish, but I dropped a real pig on friday that might have had me on top. | |

| Slappy,
Congrats on placing and thank you for all of the tips. It was good to see you again. We spent a lot of time around Misery and nearby islands. We found tons of fish in the 30" to 35" range and had a ball. Not sure of how many yet. Adding them up now.
Captiva, great to see you too. I hope JCKF can get back into Kayak Wars with our extended fall fishery!!!

| The fishing at the Shootout was outstanding. Although I wanted to explore other areas, the bite was too good around Salem to look around. . . . . Sunday was one of the best days of the season for me. Over the trip, had a shot at 3 38" + stripers and landed one. The others were lost next to the boat, and bigger, this is unusual for me, but I'm happy with what I got.
It was great to finally meet the slappinator . . . . . really needed to see that he is a human and not a striped bass fishing robot! LOL! Please let me know if you go visit your inlaws in Westchester - I know some spots around there.
Also, great to see Chris and Charlie, have a beer and talk some fishing. I can't wait till your tourney in October!
Ended up the trip in Cape Cod at Herring Cove and caught some MONSTER blues . . . . . slower than usual though. Also, saw a whale on the kayak near race point (about 20 yards away from me and followed adjacent to the kayak for about 10 minutes) and . . . . . yes . . . . a bluefin tuna blitz with about 300 lb fish - it was one of the most bizzare things I have ever seen as a fisherman.
Daryl and I split the remaining bass that we had to get our KW limit - had about 40 other fish that weren't posted . . . . . and the neckpunchers are still gaining - damn that bluefish guy catching all the bonus blues!

| I lost about a dozen fish pics from NEKF! I'm so pissed! I have a new camera and I only barely skimmed the directions and now I could kick myself!!! Nothing over 32", but they are points lost at a critical time. UGH!!! Mullet Miller, Dillon and I made it out on Monday morning before heading home. We went over by the restaurant off the ramp in Winter Island and found blitzing bass!!! Some fish were in the HUGE category. I threw all manner of lures into the fish and kept hooking up with 22"-28" fish. I have some video (that I can't work either) of the bass tailing. You can see just how big they are. (I'll post once I learn how.) With the clock ticking, I left with the fish still biting. It was a real heart breaker, but a GREAT trip none the less. I had two really weird catches while we were up there on Kayak Carl T-n-W's. A 16" 1.5lb Black Sea Bass, and a 12.5" Bergall!!! Never saw a Bergall over 6" and I thought it might be a record. (It's not, something like 8lbs is) [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |

| Sorry about the camera, Chris! At least you didn't lose your camera to the sea like I did last year.
If that sea bass is 15", it counts for kayak wars - no one has a sea bass yet. I've caught them as big as 13" this season fishing for fluke.
I really wanna see you guys catch our buddies from Virginia who called themselves the super team and predicted they would run away with the tournament this year. . . . . .
The weakfish are showing around here! As soon as I can get some time, I will be going out to fish JBAY, where the fishing has actually been consistent. The Great South Bay is also producing weakies - most are spikes to 3 lbs. . . . . not sure how everything is going to go this weekend with the hurricane moving up the coast - it should really turn the weakfish on afterwards if they are truly here in good numbers.

| that black sea bass is a real rarity up here, they are not too common north of cape cod, but in the last few years it seems like more are occasionally caught.
The striper bite is ON around here we have a few more weeks of really good fishing, then it starts to taper off fast as they head your way. So far 22 bonus bass in 4 trips this month, I'm hoping we don't get another big storm to get the fish moving out!!

| now that was an epic KW month for me, 45 of my 50 bass were bonus fish. the fishing was never easy, but the big fish were always there, definitely starting to taper off now, but September made my whole season! even picked up a 48" on the hogy. | |

| Things are starting to tighten up and it won't be long til the neck punchers take the lead. Things are slowing down here and I have no response. no blues around this year and the bass fishing remains good, but they are starting to go too.
Looks like Captiva and crew have been busy too and are jumping up in points again. This month will be interesting for eveyone but me! Still no help from my "team".

| Eric, you simply kicked ass this year!!! You have scored some really impressive fish!
Our fish are just starting and I hope to limit our 10 Albies over the next week or so. Christina will be home to watch the baby so I plan to fish non-stop!!!

| Looks like Captiva is getting into some big Tog! Congrats!! The pic of the 22" Tog with the 2 spools of leader laying in your mirage well says it all. LOL.
We are getting into the tog pretty heavy here now. Yest was a blast. I'm going to hold my fish for 11 days to try and get some 20" fish on the board for bonus points.

| things are changing fast here. The bass are in full migration mode, big fish moved off, smalls moved in, actually got more shorts than legals friday night. On friday night i got more short bass than I did in Aug/sept combined!
there are no other KW eligible fish around boston now, stripers are pretty much it. arrgh!

Done. I'm culling now...October is hard around here for bonus bass, not so much for regular bass.

| Glad that this thread is starting to get active again. . . . . .
The tog fishing around here has been insane, but we limited out - about 1/3 of the tog were bonus tog, so it helped us narrow the gap, including a tog that was almost 23" and 7 lbs caught in Stonington, CT.
Hitting a lull in the striper fishing right now . . . . . . only schoolies around. . . . . . but the fishing should get insane by the middle of November. Planning some ocean launches too. . . . . . having fun, but starting to burn out a little and not getting out as much.
