7th Annual Jamaica Bay Kayak Fishing Tournament May 15,2010

It's time once again to head over to Floyd Bennett Field, NY for some of the best kayak fishing possible. Captain Kayak will be hosting the event again this year, and you can find all of the event information at www.captainkayak.com/tournaments.html . Also, check out the video link at the bottom of the page!

For me, this is one of those tournaments that is held in the right place at the perfect time. I had a blast last year and met many friends that I continue to fish with regularly.

All proceeds from this event go to www.castingforrecovery.org Casting for recovery is a national, non-profit support and education program for women who have or have had breast cancer. Please visit their site to learn more about their heroic efforts.

Registration as of this morning was at 165. That's after only 1 week of registration being open. Cabin Fever??? If you want to be one of the first 200 to register and receive the Deluxe Captain's bag, register soon. Go to www.captainkayak.com, click on tournaments, read the rules and register.

Remember, there is a cap this year of 350. That includes wives and non-competitors. If
your on the fence about this event, GO FOR IT!

IF you haven't signed up yet, do it now. Free camping and some of the
best fishing anywhere. Tourney is filling up. JCKF needs to be there!

Camping tips - This is the old airport. There is a campground a
few hundered feet from the main group. We all camp on the old
tarmac or in the scrub brush near the hanger. Either bring enough
weight to hold your tent down on the concrete with high winds or
bring tools for trimming the scrub brush. I also bring a few tarps
for bedding before I lay my tent out.

Spent Friday shooting video with ECKF.com at Capt Kayak in Long Island.
There are a few cool toys coming out soon. I'll post the vids and reports soon.

Jerry was telling us that JBay was filling up fast. Last year was 262 and he is
almost there already this year. There is still room, but if you're planning to go,
pull the trigger and register soon.

i will be there thusday by about noon or before to get the camper set up . that way we can pre fish thurs night &fri morning,,and still be rested for sat ,,,TOURNY DAY

we fish fri right after capt meeting too. better sleep now.

Hey "Pup" - you gonna be fishing the event or are you relegated to being the camp's kitchen beotch?

The sling and the immobilizer came off yesterday. PT 4hrs a day,
5 days a week. If it's not ready, I'll duct tape the arm to my chest
and just not use it. Hell, I have a Hobie and I only need to reel with
my left arm.

Lunchbox, I saw the pictures of the new rig - NICE! 24' should give you plenty of room to relax after a long day on the water!!! But I didn't know SJFW knew how to make coffee... But we'll leave that alone for another day!!

JBay is on fire!!! A few buddies have been out a couple of times this week
and are having a blast. 36" and 40" bass all day long. 1 month to go!!!!!

Is there a better location for JBay tide info other that North Bridge Channel?

There's only a 20 minute difference between Grassy Bay & Canarsie...
For fishing it's not gonna be that big a deal. Besides, the tides you've posted are PERFECT for old men!! Out on the water at 6:00, reach Ruffle point by 6:30, have a cup of coffee and fish the incoming!! OR, it could give the "adventurous" enough time to get around to Grassy Bay... Rumor has it there are large basses to be found back there...
